Elica Kyoseva-Goder was born in Sofia, Bulgaria. She started showing interest in Mathematics, Science and Engineering from a very young age. At the age of 10, she was admitted to the Sofia Mathematics School, where she enjoyed studying Advanced Mathematics.
After graduating high school in 2000, she enrolled to study Physics in the Sofia University. This is when her love for pure Mathematics transformed into a love for Theoretical Physics. She then went on to pursue a PhD, and after several years spent in England and Germany, she arrived in Singapore in 2009 for a post doctorate at the Center for Quantum Technologies, NUS.
In 2012, she joined the exciting Singapore University of Technology and Design, established in collaboration with the esteemed Massachusetts Institute of Technology . She has since started her own research group, the Quantum Engineering Group, at SUTD working on topics in quantum control. On top of that, she has also participated in the Teach-the-Teacher programme of SUTD where she spent a year at MIT, Cambridge.
